Dallas, Texas, February 12, 2010 – NBA Cares is the league's global community outreach initiative that addresses important social issues such as education, youth and family development, and health and wellness. The NBA, its teams, and players support a range of programs, partners and initiatives that strive to positively impact children and families worldwide. During the NBA All- Star week, the NBA decided to renovate the basketball/play area at Burnett Elementary School in Dallas. The NBA was to re-asphalt the basketball court, install two new Spalding basketball hoops, remove all the old rusted poles, and generally clean up the play area. With the unusually in climate weather that the Dallas area has seen, the asphalt company that was hired was not able to complete their work in time for the court dedication on Friday February 12th. That is where NexCourt stepped in.

On Monday, just 4 days before the court unveiling, NexCourt was asked what they could do to help. By Monday afternoon, a plan was put into place to save the event. NexCourt ordered over 11,000 square feet of Sport Court suspended Sport Game modular sport flooring to cover the entire area. By Wednesday, the flooring and hoops were installed and the game lines were all painted. On Thursday the custom logos for the NBA Cares, the NBA All-Star 2010, and the Dallas Mavericks were installed to make the court look amazing. "It was a challenge to coordinate the design, order, and install of over 11,000 square feet of basketball court and play area" said Mark Kundysek, owner of NexCourt. "However, it was worth it to know that we created not only a basketball area and a play area for the children of this school and community, but a sense of pride for the school", After seeing the transformation of the basketball court, it is easy to see why these children will have pride in their new basketball court and play area.

The Sport Court flooring installed by NexCourt allows for other games to be played by the children. Hopscotch and four square areas will be added to give the area versatility that it did not have before. All the different colors really makes the court a bright, fun place for the children to run and play no matter the weather conditions. "We are happy to have this opportunity to work with the NBA", Kundysek said. "Our team has worked with the Dallas Maverick Foundation for many years and has renovated 15 gyms and courts. To add a NBA Cares project has been a lot of fun." Matt Miller with the Dallas Maverick's take: "When the asphalt company told the NBA people that the weather has hindered them from completely the court, I knew if I called Mark and his team at NexCourt, that they would do everything in their power to help out. We have renovated 15 courts with NexCourt and Sport Courts help over that last several years. Every court looks better than the last. We are proud to have them as partners on our renovation projects."
